A mock drill simulating relief and rescue operations during a chemical and industrial disaster was conducted. The exercise aimed to assess the preparedness of various departments involved in disaster management and to inform the general public about immediate actions to be taken during such emergencies. Mayor Malti Rai observed the mock drill held at the ground opposite CPRI in the BHEL area. She commended the prompt action demonstrated by the teams from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation and other departments in carrying out relief and rescue operations. Additional Commissioner of the Corporation, Devendra Singh Chauhan, along with officials from the district administration and various departments, as well as prominent citizens, were present on the occasion.
 
The mock drill, organised to evaluate preparedness for chemical and industrial disasters, educate citizens on initial response measures, and raise awareness about precautions during various accidents, took place in the BHEL area, opposite CPRI. Teams from the municipal corporation’s fire brigade, NDRF, SDRF, CISF, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Police, and Health Department participated in the exercise. They demonstrated the swift and efficient operation of resources used to extinguish fires involving different chemicals and showcased rapid action for the rescue of citizens during a disaster. The participating teams also displayed procedures for immediate action during any accident or disaster, including rescuing citizens, providing prompt treatment, and transporting them to hospitals. On this occasion, officials from the municipal corporation and other departments provided information to the general public regarding precautions to be taken to avoid chemical/industrial disasters and the initial steps to be followed during an accident.
