Governor Ramen Deka held a review meeting of administrative officers in the meeting hall of Public Works Department on Tuesday in Durg.
The Governor gave concrete guidelines on various administrative issues, in which he emphasised the need to further efforts towards environmental protection, road safety, de-addiction, water conservation and empowerment of self-help groups. He discussed with the beneficiaries availing the benefits of government schemes and obtained information about the income received from them.
Governor Deka emphasised the need to plant as many trees as possible in the district towards maintaining greenery and environmental protection. He directed Forest Officer Chandrashekhar Pardeshi to run a campaign under the name of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and plant trees in every vacant place and conserve them.
He expressed concern over the increasing road accidents in the district and directed the police administration to take effective steps. He stressed on the need to be strict in following traffic rules. He directed to run special campaigns to make the general public aware of traffic rules and road safety and asked them to strictly follow traffic rules.
Governor Deka stressed on organising various programmes for de-addiction and said that drug addiction has become a serious social problem, which harms the health of individuals. He directed government and non-government organisations to run de-addiction campaigns for de-addiction.
Governor asked the officials to focus on measures for water conservation in ponds, rivers and reservoirs besides the system of rain water harvesting.
The Governor emphasised on taking important steps towards empowering self-help groups. The Governor also asked to benefit the people by connecting them with the government’s Mudra Loan Scheme.
At the beginning of the meeting, Collector Abhijeet Singh informed the Governor about the schemes implemented in the district and their achievements along with brief information about Durg district. Divisional Commissioner SN Rathore, IGP RG Garg, SP Jitendra Shukla, CEO of District Panchayat Bajrang Dubey along with all district head officers of all departments and beneficiaries of various schemes were present in the meeting.
