TWO of city’s talented boxers are just two steps away from making it to the Indian squad. Samiksha Singh and Anant Deshmukh, representing Maharashtra in the selection trials, have entered semi-finals of selection trials being conducted by Boxing Federation of India at SAI NCOE, Rohtak, Haryana.
The winners in their respective category will play for India in the forthcoming Asian Boxing Championship (for junior boys and girls under 17 years of age), informs Porus Kotwal, Secretary, Nagpur District Boxing Association.
The trials, that started on March 30, would conclude on April 3.Samiksha is participating in weight category of 50-52 kgs and Anant in weight category of 63-66 kgs. They will play their semi-finals on Wednesday (April 2). Both the upcoming boxers train under guidance of NSNIS boxing coach Ganesh Purohit at Mankapur Sports Complex, Nagpur.
Members of the Nagpur District Boxing Association and Nagpur City Boxing Association have congratulated both boxers and have wished good luck to them for their future success.
