THE duo of Sawara Gandhi and Preeti Panchware emerged as champions in their respective categories in Women’s Day Special Chess Tournament hosted by Royal Chess Academy at Saisha Enterprises, Nara Road, Jaripatka.
The academy organised second edition of the event celebrating the strategic brilliance and competitive spirit of women in chess. The event saw enthusiastic participation, making it a landmark initiative in the city’s chess community.
A total of 20 girls and women participated in the tournament, including four FIDE-rated players, showcasing high-level competition. The final round witnessed an intense battle where Sawara Gandhi delivered a fantastic performance, securing 5 out of 5 points by defeating Shanaya Shelkar. On the second board, Yashika Musale claimed victory against Srushti Taksande, while Preeti Panchware triumphed over Payal Rawat on the third board.
Siddharth Career Academy was the event sponsor. Kiran Murkute, Nidhi Sontakke, and Payal Rawat were prominently present during the prize distribution function.
