A Combine team of Crime Branch and Civil Lines police nabbed two drug peddlers and seized 15 kg ganja amounting to Rs 3 lakh from them. The arrested have been identified as Abhishek Pandey (31), native of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and currently residing near Durga Mandir in Ghamapur and Robin Sonkar (27), resident near Community Hall, Bhartipur in Chhoti Omti.
SHO of Civil Line police station, Ritesh Kumar Pandey informed that on April 25, 2025, the Crime Branch received information that two suspects carrying a red luggage bag were waiting near the turn ahead of Railway School for delivery of narcotic consignment.
Acting promptly under the provisions of the NDPS Act, a joint team raided the spot near the Railway School, opposite Tulsi Kunj, where under a mango tree they spotted two individuals matching the description. Witnessing the police, both attempted to flee but were quickly surrounded and apprehended by the cops. In their search, Abhishek Pandey was found with Rs 500 in cash and Ganja in his backpack, while Robin Sonkar had Rs 300 in cash and Ganja in
his trolley bag. The total seized Ganja weighed around 15 kilograms amounting to Rs 3 lakh. Civil Line police have arrested the accused under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act while an investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons working in the network of narcotics trade. Drug peddlers were apprehended with active working of police team comprised of SI, Ganesh Tomar, Sadan Dixit, Manohar Patel, Constables Dilip, Omnath Gunge, Rampravesh, SHO, Crime Branch, Shailesh Mishra, Crime Branch ASI, Naresh Pasi, Head Constables Rajesh Pandey, Akhilesh Pandey, Constable Govind Rai and Cyber Cell Head Constable Amit Patel and Constable Arvind.
