A farmer and a woman were killed in lightning strike at Pathri in Tumsar taluka on Thursday around 12 noon. Another person was also injured in the incident. It started raining along with thunders. Pramod Maniram Nagpure (42), Manisha Bharat Pushpatode (32) and Asaram Pushpatode (55), all residents of Pathri, were returning home from the sugarcane field situated on the banks of the Bawanthadi river at the time. They took shelter under a mango tree but a lightning struck the tree. Nagpure and Manisha Pushpatode were killed on the spot while Manisha’s father-in-law Asaram Pushpatode received burns. He was admitted to a Primary Health Centre and is said to be out of danger. Authorities advised people to not take shelter below a tree or stand under tin shade but the three made the same mistake and two had to face death.
