Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has termed the Waqf Amendment Bill, passed by the parliament, as a testament to India’s robust democratic system. He emphasised that the extensive discussions held on the bill reflect the maturity of parliamentary discourse. Describing the bill as a historic step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of Waqf properties, CM Sai stated that it would resolve long-standing ambiguities between Waqf and government properties.

He highlighted that granting district collectors the authority to conduct surveys would expedite the resolution of land-related disputes. Clarifying the intent of the legislation, he asserted that the bill does not interfere in religious activities but aims to introduce administrative reforms and judicial transparency. Sai also lauded the bill for its provisions protecting the rights of tribal communities, particularly the ban on creating Waqf properties in areas covered under the Fifth and Sixth Schedules of the Constitution.

He noted that this measure would prevent the illegal occupation of tribal land and safeguard tribal culture. Furthermore, the Chief Minister pointed out a key provision stating that only Muslim members will be allowed in Waqf Boards. Criticising the Opposition, CM Sai accused the Congress and other parties of attempting to mislead the Muslim community regarding the bill. He condemned these efforts as unfortunate and reiterated that the legislation is not against any religion but rather upholds the principles of justice and equality.
