A decomposed carcass of another tiger cub was found in Intawara Nullah under Sarhinaka Beat of Kanha Tiger Reserve. It is the second carcass of a tiger cub found in Kanha Tiger Reserve, as another tiger cub had been found dead in Sarhi forest range of Kanha Tiger Reserve in Bade Amahi Nala area on April 22. Kanha Tiger Reserve authorities reported the death of a tiger cub following finding of its carcass in Intawara Nala area under Sarhinakan Beat of the reserve, on Friday. New Delhi and office of Chief Wildlife Warden, Madhya Pradesh, officials secured the site and initiated an intensive search operation. A dog squad and trained elephants were deployed to comb the area and gather evidence. A team of experts was called in for post-mortem, including Dr Nidhi Rajput, Professor at School of Wildlife Forensic and Health, Jabalpur, Dr Akhilesh Mishra and veterinary officer B Vishkal. Upon examination, carcass of the tiger cub was found in highly decomposed state. Officials informed that the exact cause of death could not be ascertained immediately and further investigations are underway. The entire process was conducted in accordance with NTCA’s Standard Operating Procedures. The proceedings were carried out in the presence of senior forest officials and local administration representatives, including officers from Pench Tiger Reserve, revenue authorities and representatives of the local Gram Panchayat. The entire procedure was documented through photography and videography for official records.
