Jabalpur is reeling under intense heat as temperature continues to rise sharply, causing discomfort for residents. On Friday, the maximum temperature touched 42 degrees Celsius, with harsh sunlight and heatwave like conditions prevailing through the day.
According to the weather department, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 42°C, while the minimum stood at 23.2°C.
Clear skies led to strong sun rays, making the heat more severe and noticeable.
Spokesman of weather department said there is no immediate relief in sight.
The temperature is likely to remain above 42°C on Saturday, while it may hover around 43°C on Sunday, further intensifying the heat conditions.
A slight dip in temperature is expected from Tuesday, with the mercury likely to settle between 38°C and 40°C. However, increased humidity during this period may lead to continued discomfort for residents.
Spokesman further informed that temperatures in Jabalpur
have remained above normal throughout April. For several consecutive days, the mercury has stayed above 40°C, with a steady rise of about one degree Celsius observed daily. In view of the rising heat, residents have been advised to take all necessary precautions. People have been advised to avoid stepping out between 12 noon and 4 pm. They have been suggested to stay hydrated and ensure special care for children and the elderly to prevent heat related illnesses such as heatstroke.
