Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Jabalpur, has issued notices to 25 medical institutions operating without obtaining mandatory ‘Consent to Operate’ from the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB), on Friday. All institutions have been directed to submit their explanations within three days, failing which strict action will be taken. According to officials, the action has been initiated in compliance with directives of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Pollution Control Board. Under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution)
 
Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, it is mandatory for all healthcare facilities to obtain and renew operational consent. The institutions served notices include Virat Netralaya, Blue Sky Multispeciality Hospital, Nobel Multispeciality Hospital, Sunrise Hospital, Narayan Health Care, Sai Multispeciality Hospital, Smart City Hospital, Chhavi Eye Hospital, Shri Ram Hospital,
 
Dr. Maksooda Ansari Memorial Hospital, Parambha Netralaya, Shiv Sagar Hospital, Mahavir Multispeciality and Cancer Hospital, Gajkesari Hospital, Amrit City Hospital, Sihora Hospital, Life Care Hospital, Prime Health Care, Golcha Ortho Care Hospital, Shiv Netralaya, Vijayashree Medical College Hospital, Ideal Fertility and IVF Genetic Center, Devshree Multispeciality Hospital, Sankalp Multispeciality Hospital and Vijaya Memorial Hospital. All institutions must submit their responses to both the Pollution Control Board and the CMHO office. Failure to comply within the stipulated time will invite action under the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Home (Registration and Licensing) Act, 1973 and Rules 1997.
