The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has received over 25,500 applications from Chhattisgarh for the second edition of the class 10 board examinations which is scheduled to begin from May 15.
Majority of the students from Raipur, Bhilainagar, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba and even Jagdalpur of Bastar district are opting this examination to improve their scores from the main examination those results were declared earlier this month.
Even many of the students have registered to improve their marks in two or three subjects.
According to the figures, over 25500 students who have appeared in class 10 board round 1 examination 2026 of CBSE at Chhattisgarh in between February and March have registered for round 2 examination of it which will be organised from May 15 to 21.
Of these students, over 18000 have applied for improvement, 4500 for compartment and remaining have applied for both compartment as well as improvement.
In 2025-26 session, board has introduced a two-edition system for class 10 examinations making it mandatory for students to appear in the first exam while allowing a second attempt as an opportunity for improvement of their marks and percentage in the examination.
In this second attempt to improve marks, the board has allowed students to appear for the examination in a maximum of three subjects.
The board has clearly mentioned that the best marks obtained across both attempts will be reflected in the final mark sheet-cum-certificates. Interestingly, around 9500 students have registered for three subjects, 12500 students have registered for two subjects and remaining students have registered for one subject to improve their marks. The results of the round 2 board examination of class 10 will be declared by the end of June 2026 so that schools will be able to start the new academic session of class 11 from July onwards. Amitabh Das, CBSE coordinator said that only in capital Raipur and Bhilainagar, the board has setup 10 and 7 examination centers respectively for class 10 round 2 board examination students. In all of regional centres including Raipur has received overwhelming response of this two-board exam policy and a large number of students are being registered for it. Officials of CBSE Regional Office Raipur stated that it will help to reduce academic pressure of the students.
