A 26-year-old youth was murdered in a violent assault in Nichi Nunsar village under the jurisdiction of Patan police station limits on Friday night. Police registered a case and started a rigorous search operation to arrest the accused. The deceased has been identified as Manish Chadhar, resident of Nichi Nunsar village.
 
According to Patan police, Prahlad Chadhar (61), a resident of village Nichi Nunsar, lodged a complaint that he has three sons. On Friday, his nephew Manoj informed him that villagers Vivek Patel, Abhishek Patel and Paras alias Kanha Patel were assaulting his son Manish near a banyan tree in front of Swamidatt Pyasi’s shop. Upon reaching the spot, Prahlad found the three accused beating his son with fists, sticks and the wooden handle of an axe, while also hurling caste-based abuses. When he tried to intervene, the accused threatened to kill Manish. Vivek and Abhishek held Manish, while Kanha strangled him by tightening a cloth around his neck. Manish fell unconscious after the assault and accused managed to escape from the spot.
 
The family brought him home and laid him in the courtyard but in the evening he was found dead. Acting on the complaint, Patan police have registered a case under Sections 296(B), 109, 351(2) and 3(5) of BNS and started investigation into the case. It may be mentioned that Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur, Sampat Upadhyay (IPS), has taken the incident seriously and directed immediate arrest of the accused. Acting on his instructions, Additional SP (Rural) Suryakant Sharma and SDOP Patan Lokesh Dabar have guided the formation of a special police team. The team led by SHO, Gopendra Singh Rajput has been deployed to trace and arrest the accused.
