As the exam season has finally begun with the start of 10th and 12th MP Board Exams which like always came with the package of stress and excitement among students, parents are emerging as the key players in mitigating the stress faced by their children. Every year lakhs of students appear for MP Board examination and face some stress while preparing for the same, it’s an important stage at every student’s life paving way to the new chapters of their life. In conversations with several parents, various proactive measures came into spotlight which are being taken up by parents to create a supportive environment for their wards. ‘The Hitavada’ team interacted with parents about the daily issues they are facing and how they are counselling their ward. Parents emphasised the significance of effective communication with their child.

Pratibha Vishwakarma, a parent residing in Bhopal, shared, “It’s crucial to create a stress-free environment for effective study routine. We maintain an open line of communication and always assured our son to just give his best and do not think about anything else. The positive support is important which helps in creating a stress-free environment in the house.” Parents are also paying attention to their child’s physical well-being. She also added that taking care of child’s health is also important in exam time “I have ensured the addition of fruits, nuts, milk and other healthy food items in my child’s diet, to make sure that he receives all vital vitamins and minerals especially at this time, which helps him in channelising his focus in studies.” Many parents have implemented structured routines to instill discipline without causing undue pressure.

Asha Nagle, another parent, detailed her approach, “We have designated a separate study area with a comfortable chair and good lighting. It helps create a positive study environment, in addition to limiting distractions at house by purposely avoiding televisions during our daughter’s study hours.” Moreover, parents are ensuring to adopt a holistic approach to support their children. Kaushalya Poosam, another parent from Bhopal, echoing this statement, states, “Beyond academic support, we encourage breaks and recreational activities. A healthy mix of study and relaxation is vital to maintain focus during these crucial times. She also added “We remind our child that grades don’t define them. It’s about doing their best, and we are proud of their efforts, irrespective of the outcome”, highlighting that parents are actively providing emotional support, recognising the emotional toll exams can take. These conversations highlight the collaborative efforts between parents and students. Stories shared by parents underscore the importance of a united front in navigating the challenges of board exams. With parents actively involved in creating a conducive atmosphere, students can approach exams with healthier mindset, ensuring well-rounded approach to success.
